The Event

LARC Events are structured yet plauyful, powerful yet not too serious. Here’s what to expect:

  • Grounding exercises to help you feel calm and present

  • Simple agreements that make conversations safe and fun

  • Rotating rounds of one-on-one and small-group dialogue

  • Conversation prompts that spark real depth, not small talk

You'll meet new people, swap stories, and pick up simple tools for listening and connection that last long after the event ends.

Come curious. Leave connected.

A group of people gathered on the porch of a house, posing for a photo. Some are smiling and making peace signs. There are two banners with text behind them, one reading 'The Lost Art of Random Conversations,' and the other partially reading 'Pull up a chair...'. The woman taking the selfie is in the foreground on the right, smiling widely.

The Problem

61% of adults say they're lonely often. Most say making friends as an adult is hard. Most also say they'd welcome more friendship in their lives. Yet when two strangers stand next to each other in line, both wait for the other person to speak first.

Here's the other thing: most of us hate small talk, but come alive in deeper conversations. Research confirms it. People consistently predict conversations with strangers will be awkward, but afterward report enjoying them significantly more than expected, especially when the conversation goes deeper than "So, what do you do?"

The biggest barrier to connection isn't other people. It's our inaccurate prediction of what talking to them will feel like.

That's exactly why LARC exists.

What you’ll walk away with

  • Confidence to start conversations with anyone—strangers, friends, family, colleagues

  • The ability to listen in ways that make people feel seen and heard

  • Simple tools you'll actually use long after the event ends
